Jurisdiction

  • Represents the Republic of Serbia in the receiving state, in countries covered on a non-residential basis (The Bahamas, Barbados, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Republic of Suriname, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Colombia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Saint Lucia), as well as before the international organizations to which it is accredited (the Organization of American States, CARICOM, and the Association of Caribbean States);
  • Protects the interests of the Republic of Serbia, its nationals, and legal entities;
  • Engages in negotiations with the government of the receiving state, the governments of the non-residentially covered countries, and representatives of the relevant international organizations; promotes and develops relations and cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the receiving state, the non-residentially covered countries, and the international organizations to which it is accredited;
  • Reports on domestic developments and foreign policy of the receiving state, the non-residentially covered countries, and the activities of the relevant international organizations;
  • Develops cooperation with members of the Serbian diaspora in the receiving state and in the non-residentially covered countries, with the aim of preserving their national and cultural identity;
  • Performs other tasks in accordance with international law, the legislation of the Republic of Serbia, and the directives of the Ministry.

The Embassy also performs consular affairs in the receiving state (excluding those under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in New York and the Consulate General in Chicago), as well as in the countries it covers on a non-residential basis.
